List of sites that actively block or are not compatible with Firefox
By Jonathan Schlaffer
The year is 2007 yet some websites act like we are living in the dark ages of the late 90s. Back in those dark ages, it was common practice to pretend that the only browser in existence was Internet Explorer but here in 2007, developers really no longer have that option and still some websites only work well with Internet Explorer.
ToastyTech has a whole list of sites that either actively block Firefox, are not fully compatible with Firefox or cannot be accessed through Firefox and it is a rather extensive list.
However, a good number of those links work just fine in Netscape 9.0rc1. That is interesting because Netscape 9.0 is based off the Firefox engine so you would think those same sites would not work in Netscape either but many of them do, some don’t but that is to be expected.
There is no doubt that those sites do not work in Firefox but it is just interesting that at least some of them work in a browser that is based off the same engine.
On a side note, since Netscape 9.0 is based off Firefox and since most Firefox extensions work in Netscape and since Netscape appears to be compatible with a good number more sites than Firefox is, Netscape is (and has been for the past few months) my browser of choice.
