SanDisk introduces TakeTV for watching downloads on your TV
SanDisk has introduced a new gadget that will make it easier for you to watch your downloaded videos on your TV with a device not much bigger than a USB drive.
The SanDisk Sansa TakeTV is looking to bridge the gap between your computer and TV in a format any computer user can understand.
You simply plug the device in to a USB drive, drag and drop your files like you would with any removable drive, and you’re ready to go. Once at your TV, plug the drive in to the TV cradle, and then use the included remote to navigate the files you added to watch them on your TV. Compared with other methods of getting your downloaded videos on your TV screen, this is designed to be as hassle-free as possible.
The device comes in 4GB (5 hours of video, retail of $100), and 8GB (10 hours of video, $150 retail) varieties. The video is up to 720 X 576 resolution and suports ivX, XVID, and MPEG-4.
The device is available for sale immediately, but the accompanying video service, Fanfare, is still in beta mode. When fully launched, the service will have ad-supported and paid versions available for download. The free version will feature ads, and there is no mention of how much the pricing will be on the paid files.
Content will include shows from companies such as CBS, Jaman, Showtime, Smithsonian Networks, The Weather Channel and TV Guide.

Sounds good; Maplin have been selling media player HD housings for a while now – they take quite large HDs and work just as described above.
