I don't know if any of you are actually following Apple products, but Powerbooks aren't being sold directly by Apple..the only mobile units are MacBooks and MBP's...FYI

Quite Clear:
Apple isn't doing well with their powerbooks at all, they aren't selling ANY. The macbooks/mbp's are doing well, a bit better than desktops, but the iMac has had a huge impact on their sales.

The replies to my comment are interesting. I don't run Windows Mr. Cow man. Perhaps I should reply to your post with sheep bleats? Perhaps I should think different, just like everybody else? Congratulations for investing part of your self esteem in the tools you use.

While Apple makes great products, and their market share is deservedly on the rise, they have a ways to go for a significant number, percentage or otherwise. Going from 4% to 8% is one thing. Going from say %20 to %40 is entirely different.

I can be juggling one ball easily. I can pickup a second ball and juggle it for a 100% increase. It gets more difficult when the third ball is added at 50%. Apple is now on the 4th ball and judging by lawsuits, complaints about LCDs and iMacs freezing it's taking a toll. You delay releasing an OS upgrade because the engineers are needed to make sure a phone is out on time. Then the blue screen of Leopard occurs when the upgrade option is used. How does that happen on a closed system after extending the release date?
The title on this entry shouldn't be about Dell stealing Mac users. That would be accurate if the users in question were Mac to begin with.

I think the author's point was that Apple has been an innovator in hardware design and other PC makers have tended to follow their lead. You can look all the way back to the original iMac. Before that, pretty much every PC out there (including Macs) was a dull beige box. Now you don't see that much anymore.

A lot of Windows users have typically responded to Apple's design innovations by mocking them, saying they don't need their computers to look nice, and of course pointing out market share numbers.

As for HP, obviously they are doing much better than Dell at the moment but I think that you will find they are also putting a big emphasis on design lately. Just go on their website and note how they are touting their "cool streamline design". And I would be remiss not to mention the horror that is the HP z560 series.

--He didn't say "hard numbers and facts". He said percentages and numbers".-

Of course, the difference is a matter of interpretation.

--His point that Apple has been rapidly increasing its market share vs. Windows due to market-leading innovation remains uncontested by your snarky comment.--

Of course, he didn't quite say that.

Apple IS increasing its marketshare, but I'm sure it's not due to iMacs. Apple is doing much better with it's PowerBooks.

Dell is trying to expand it's own product line, but its due to its weaknesses. I'm sure HP isn't having the same problems. What would you say about HP?
