HDDVD players hit $200 mark
By Jonathan Schlaffer
If you are in to high-def then you either belong to the HDDVD or Blu-Ray camp and the HDDVD camp has an upper-hand right now, those players can be had for as little as $200.
You have your choice of the standalone Toshiba HDA2 HDDVD player or the Xbox 360 add-on HDDVD player, both of which come in at under $200 and both come with five free HDDVD movies (mail-in style).
The Xbox 360 HDDVD player includes six movies if you count the copy of King Kong that comes in the box. It can also be used with your computer (provided both the monitor and video card are HDCP complaint and it is running Windows Vista, though there are “hacked” drivers for XP). In order to use it with your PC, you will also need software capable of playing back HDDVD media.
If you are after the standalone player, it can be had at either Circuit City or Walmart stores (online at Circuit City and apparently, only in-store at Walmart though that may change).
Blu-Ray has a bit of catching up to do, well, how about it, Sony?

“HDDVD camp has an upper-hand right now” where did you get this nonsense.. take a look at http://www.eproductwars.com/dvd to see how Blu Ray is killing HD DVD.

“and the HDDVD camp has an upper-hand right now,”
Retard. In the UK for example there is currently a HD-DVD player in only 1 in 2000 households but because of the PS3 the figure for BluRay is less than 1 in 20 households.
HD-DVD is being fucked royally in the arse.
On another note try buying a HD-DVDrecorder drive for the PC. HD-DVD are being slaughtered in that area as well.
The only people who say HD-DVD are doing well against Bluray are the people selling it, 360 owners who see it as some kind of war against Sony and people who simply don’t have much of a grip on reality.

But how many people are actually using the Blu-Ray feature on the PS3, just because it has a presence, does not mean it is being used. And there really aren’t any figures to back any claim up… I only said it has the upper hand in regards to price points and that’s it.

Man, you idiots get genuinely ANGRY if anyone has anything positive to say about HDDVD. Stop and think exactly what you are getting all worked up about, seriously man. The Bush administration enrages me, stuff like this mildly interests me, let alone spark any ire.

I’m going to sit this one out. While the output is better, it’s not good enough for me to replace my DVD library with either format. The HDMI requirement pisses me off as well. I’ll get the movies I want from alternate sources. At least I got to spot another public breakout of someone suffering from BDS-Bush Derangement Syndrome. Sufferers feel the need to work in a negative comment of the administration, no matter what the subject.LOL
