HTC upgrades Touch with new colors and internals, over 1 million sold
Despite what you think of the HTC Touch, it’s a formidable contender in the cell phone world. HTC is hoping to push sales even further by refreshing the Touch line with new colors and internals.
Currently, the HTC Touch comes in black and diaper green versions, and the mobile phone company will add white and maroon-burgandy options as well.
In addition to cosmetic improvements, the Boy Genius reports that HTC is upping the RAM to 128MB and the ROM to 256MB. While these upgrades aren’t absolutely amazing, the extra RAM should provide a more pleasant Touch experience.
HTC released the Touch in June and, according to DigiTimes, managed to sell over 1 million units by the end of October. Critics doubted HTC’s product for trying to recreate the iPhone experiene too closely, but HTC has managed to create a product that provides its own unique "touch" experience with the advantages of Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
The HTC Touch is available in unlocked form and locked forms through Sprint, Orange, and other carriers around the world.
