T-Mobile USA going 3G in December?

By Danny Mendez

T-Mobile USA going 3G in December? The rumor goes like this: T-Mobile USA will announce two types of 3G service by the end of December, and the wireless service provider also has some interesting plans for its current 2G EDGE data service.

Supposedly, a reader contacted tech site, the Inquirer, about the news tip. The reader called T-Mobile to ask about the service provider’s 3G plans. Somehow, he managed to get a hold of a spokesperson, who told the reader that the company will make an announcement about 3G availability in his area by December 6. The spokesperson supposedly cited an internal document regarding the information.

If the rumor is true, T-Mobile will release two types of 3G data service. One will borrow from AT&T’s current 3G network and the other, T-Mobile’s baby, will introduce HSDPA 2100 into the US.

Furthermore, as an added value to all customers, T-Mobile will bundle its EDGE data plan with existing voice plans at no additional charge.
