Latest version of Zoho goes online as well as off with help of Google Gears

By Jonathan Schlaffer

zoho Zoho recently released a new version of their Writer software which was previously online only now enables users to edit documents offline and synch the offline version to the online version.

The software is still limited, however, as users will not be able to create an offline document and then put it online.

Going offline in Zoho is easy enough, simply select the “go offline” option from the Writer menu.  When the next online session starts, users will have the option of synching any of the changes to the online version of the document.

The ability for multiple users to edit documents is still there and the offline functionality of Zoho was added through the use of Google Gears which allows web-only applications to use JavaScript APIs while offline.

Offline functionality will be added to the other Zoho applications in due time according to Vnunet.
