Intel vs AMD: iSuppli predicts Intel to win processor crown, AMD faltering

iSuppli predicts Intel to win processor crown, AMD falteringIt’s been a year of plenty for Intel, while AMD has squandered too many opportunities. The company has struggled to keep up with the hectic pace of Intel’s product roll-out and is falling behind in the processor race. Research firm iSuppli has predicted what we pretty much already know – that Intel will top the processor charts this year while AMD falls to the wayside.

According to iSuppli, AMD likely won’t even make the top ten this year. Why such a sad slip for a company that seemed to be doing so well last year, at least until they decided acquiring ATI was a good idea.

AMD’s been taking too long to bring out answers to Intel’s offerings, especially with the long delay with bringing out its quad-cores. Intel has been smart enough to push out its new processors quickly and make them available almost immediately – the huge marketing blitz didn’t hurt either. With the negligible price difference between Intel and AMD offerings, AMD needs to bring something compelling to the table to win over buyers. So far, we’re not seeing it.

It’s too soon to say whether the ATI acquisition has hurt AMD more rather than added value to the two being associated. Intel’s played their cards right this year and unless AMD does a better job at winning over the masses, Intel looks like it’s going to be sitting pretty on the top of the charts for a long while yet.

just think, AMD wouldnt be around constantly whining and crying about intel if it wasnt for their first lawsuit against Intel to be able to clone the Pentium 2 as a cheaper choice. For a company that has taken Intel to court over and over constantly crying and whining so they can have INTEL’S technology is rather pathetic. Yes, AMD started making their own technologies, the first being the Thunderbird, but at a price of Intel’s technology. Remember people AMD would not be around if it werent for their constant crying in court rooms as usual when they start to falter off. (like now, and look, back in court with Intel) What else can they make up and plant in people’s minds to get more of Intel’s technology? Hi-K Gate tech next? OMG Get real people do your research and look whats goin on you AMD crybabies
