Flickr’s Picnik Party Goes Live
By Erna Mahyuni
When they aren’t yelling at Zuckerberg about privacy, Facebook users are actually enjoying his startup’s amazing array of apps. Well, one of those apps has decided to share itself with the rest of the world via another Web 2.0 success – Flickr.
The news on Flickr’s blog will surely warm the cockles of many a photo enthusiast who wants simple tweaks available without much mucking with Photoshop. The partnership will give Flickr users access to online editing options that include mainstays like cropping, resizing and red-eye removing. Yes, remove those scary devil-eyed glints from sweet old Aunt June’s photos!
Laist.com has a nice mini-review of the new feature and from the samples, Picnik seems like an ideal way for Flickr to add features without needing to buyout smaller firms or spend extra time coding. What does Picnik get out of this? Why, the opportunity to flog off paid services of course! Picnik paid accounts go for an additional $24.95 for more demanding users.
If this isn’t a way for Flickr to embed itself quite firmly into the Websphere, I don’t know what is.
