Verizon FiOS now equipped with HD video-on-demand
By Triston McIntyre
As if Verizon’s FiOS service wasn’t making large enough waves, FiOS TV service is now offering over 75 new HD titles to kick off the holiday season and plans on releasing an additional 1000 HD titles to in both On-Demand content and regular HD content by the end of 2008.
The new lineup offered immediately is certainly impressive: new On-Demand titles include “Transformers,” “Mr. Brooks,” and “Surf’s Up,” to name a few; standard HD channels offered for no extra charge will include HD versions of MTV music videos and HD shows on the Golf and Wealth channels.
All in all, Verizon promises an additional 150 HD channels by the end of 2008 and over 1,000 more On-Demand titles in that same time frame.
The only thing holding back Verizon’s FiOS service at this point is the time required to spread the service around the more remote corners of the country; once people have a viable alternative to some of the antiquated cable giants, they’ll be drooling for proper high-speed internet and HD content.
I’m no PR rep, but in the face of poor quality and customer care, Verizon offers a sound product at a reasonable price that delivers what it promises; viva la Verizon!
