Sync Google Calendar with your Blackberry

By Danny Mendez

Sync Google Calendar with your BlackberryGoogle Calendar is a great app, but getting it to two-way sync with pretty much anything is sadly a hassle unless you’re willing to drop money on third party software. Thankfully, companies are beginning to notice the beauty in Google’s free web apps, and RIM (Blackberry) is doing something about it.

If you’d like to sync your Google Calendar with your Blackberry smartphone, simply point your computer’s browser to the Google sync for mobile page. Then click on "Get started now". Google will ask you for your Blackberry’s phone number, and then it’ll send you a text message with a link. Through your Blackberry device, click on the link and the rest should be pretty self explanatory.

Your Google Calendar will always stay synchronized whether you edit it from your computer or your phone. You can access Google Calendar even when you can’t get a signal, and, once you get a signal, it’ll sync up all the changes you made while offline.

While Google Calendar is a free service, you’ll need a data plan in order to access the app. As a result, charges through your carrier may apply. It’s stuff like this that truly make unlimited data plans totally worth it.
