Wasting your money: Guitar Hero III hits Verizon phones

By Danny Mendez

Wasting your money: Guitar Hero III hits Verizon phonesVerizon knows what its customers want, and they don’t want sleek handsets with third party operating systems. No, they want Guitar Hero III everywhere they go.

Today, Verizon Wireless announced the exclusive availability of Guitar Hero III mobile:

"Guitar Hero III Mobile allows rockers to jam anytime, anywhere to the same stunning graphics, high-quality audio and addictive gameplay that fans of the wildly popular console series have come to expect."

The same stunning graphics that I get on my Xbox 360 or PS3? According to Verizon Wireless, yes.

OK, time to end the sarcasm. Obviously, the game won’t bring you the same graphics as your PS3, and we doubt it’ll be as fun as the real game. For one, you don’t even use a guitar to play the game, which is the whole point of Guitar Hero. Also, if your phone’s buttons suck, that’ll flat out ruin the game too.

To top it all off, the game costs $12 to own, and you only get 15 songs. You have to pay for more, which will get released monthly at prices likely to suck. Verizon Wireless, devote your resources to LTE and getting better phones.

Note: To be fair, many of Verizon’s newer models are much better than usual.
