Sony steps up Blu-ray vs HD-DVD war in Australia

By Sean P. Aune

Sony steps up Blu-ray vs HD-DVD war in Australia Can’t decide which HD format is for you?  Well, in Australia, all you need to do is buy an HD TV and the decision will be made for you!

For those of you in Australia that have been wrestling with which HD format to go with DVDs, Sony wants to help you out.

Between December 21st, 2007 and January 28,2008, if you purchase a qualifying Sony Bravia LCD TV, you can score a free Sony Playstation 3 which, as you know, plays Blu-ray movies.  You will need to go to www.sony.com.au/bonusPS3 to get all the details to score your free system.

The qualifying models include:

XBR Series

  • KDL40XBR
  • KDL46XBR
  • KDL52XBR
  • KDL70X3500

X Series

  • KDL40X3100
  • KDL46X3100
  • KDL52X3100

W Series

  • KDL40W3100
  • KDL46W3100
  • KDL46W3100

If this promotion is a success in the land down under, it’s not difficult to imagine that Sony may attempt something similar in the other markets where they are fighting with HD-DVD.

    1. DaveBG:

Toshiba are doing this kind of ‘free HD DVD player deal’ with their large LCD TVs & HD DVD players in Australia.

Where’s their headline & ‘report’ (advert)?
