The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, i.e. the group out to protect the rights of those in the music and recording industry, has set its sights on Europe in its latest attempt at defeating internet piracy. The IFPI recently presented the EU with recommendations intended to block both p2p traffic and access to sites that cater to p2p sharing.

Every year, Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II addresses the public at 3:00 PM on Christmas Day. It was expected that she would address the public in the usual manner, live and on BBC radio and television. The Queen has other ideas of how to reach the masses, however; thanks to her granddaughters.

It looks like the end could be nigh for rear projection televisions, with the recent announcement that yet another class A manufacturer has abandoned the product. Sony has joined Philips, Toshiba and Hitachi in stopping all manufacturing of the TVs in favour of both LCD and Plasma.

Many consumers have just stayed away from the Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD war, partly because of high prices and partly because some do not have a high-def TV to take advantage of it. Those with high-def TVs are still abstaining from siding with one over the other pending an uncontested champion.

Earlier this week, Russian anti-virus vendor, Kaspersky Lab released a faulty signature update to its software which then proceeded to falsely identify Windows Explorer as containing the Huhk-C virus. This led to problems for some users as a majority of Windows features were now disabled.
