Michael Bay helps nail the coffin shut on HD DVD vs Blu-ray war
Michael Bay, director of Transformers and Pearl Harbor, has a shoddy track record with his support of high definition formats, but now he is happy to say he was always behind Blu-ray.
To say Mr. Bay has gone with whichever they wind was blowing, would be an understatement. Back in August, the well-known director announced his support for each format over the other twice in 36-hours.
His first proclamation stated how he was angry over Universal going HD DVD only, and that he would not direct Transformers 2.
36-hours later he stated that he was influenced into his support of Blu-ray by a night of drinking with three ardent Blu-ray supporters. He said that 300 on HD DVD rocked, and that maybe he was back on Transformers 2.
Throw in a brush with conspiracy theories about Microsoft fueling the war for sinister reasons, that brings us to the present day. With the announcement that Warner Brothers has left HD DVD for Blu-ray, it seems Mr. Bay is forgetting his little comment about HD DVD back in August. On his forums, he is now saying that the death of HD DVD will be a slow one, but it’s going to happen. He also promises his fans that Transformers will be on Blu-ray someday.
Considering his track record on the subject, one wonders when another night of drinking will influence him to come out as a supporter of Laser Discs.

Michael Bay is completely wrong. The HD-DVD will not be slow. It will be fast. HD-DVD won’t make it to summer 08.
