Introducing Google TV: What?

By Danny Mendez

Introducing the Google TV: What?First it’s the Internet, then your phone, and now your TV. Google’s getting into everything, and it’ll eventually figure out a way to sync with your cereal. Until then, it’ll have to settle for Matsushita TVs.

Google and Matsushita, the maker of Panasonic electronics, have plans to develop web connected plasma TVs to bring Google’s services and YouTube into your living room, but they’re not the first to try to conquer your sitting space. Microsoft and the PC minion companies (HP, Dell, Lenovo, etc.) have been at it for awhile, then Apple with the Apple TV, but now even google’s trying to make the living room "better", whatever that means.

YouTube and Picasa will have their own dedicated buttons on the TV’s remote control, according to CNN, and don’t be surprised if Google Reader, Gmail, and Google Calendar sneak their way into the final product.

Don’t expect this to hit store shelves any time soon, and don’t be surprised if the Google TV never makes it out of the lab. Finally, if you happen to ever snag one, don’t forget to tell us all about it.
