Bill Gates claims Microsoft won’t create an iPhone rival

By Triston McIntyre

Bill Gates claims Microsoft won’t create an iPhone rivalMicrosoft, near direct competitor with Apple in the software realm, apparently has no plans to develop any sort of mobile phone to compete with Apple’s iPhone; instead, Microsoft will rely on its platform Windows Mobile to carry the Microsoft flag into the pockets of consumers.

Bill Gates has formally said that Microsoft has no intentions of creating its own competitor to the iPhone, according to Yahoo. That is all well and good; hooray to Microsoft for recognizing an arena in which it would utterly fail (about time, considering they already tried the Zune…and let’s not speak of Vista).

That being said, Bill had better be springing some big ideas to improve Windows Mobile’s position, otherwise Google’s free platform Android will completely destroy the need for another bloated piece of expensive Microsoft software.
