HD DVD suffers another defeat as porn companies switch sides in HD DVD vs Blu-ray war

HD DVD suffers another defeat as porn companies switch sides in HD DVD vs Blu-ray war In what could be taken to rubbing salt in an open wound, the porn industry has decided to go to Blu-ray.

Early on in the high definition format war, porn companies were having problems getting their content produced on Blu-ray, so were nearly forced to go the HD DVD route.  With the announcement that Warner Brothers switched sides, virtually guaranteeing the Sony-backed format winning, it seems porn companies are revisiting their ability to go Blu.  (yes… you may wince at the painfully obvious joke)

With the proliferation of numerous online venues for downloading and streaming pornographic material, physical media is not as important as it once was.  Unlike the VHS vs Beta Max war of the late 1970’s/early 1980’s, wherein porn went with VHS, it is doubtful that pornography will have much, if any, bearing in the high definition fight.

The number of companies leaving the HD DVD format is troubling for the backers of the format, and with each passing day it seems that HD DVD’s days are numbered.

Well (according to all the Blu-ray supporters a little while back) that should make no difference and means nothing now what with the net providing so much porn these days, right?
