Please excuse our mess and downtime

By Jonathan Schlaffer

Untitled-1 Those of you that are regular readers of the BLORGE.com family of websites have not been able to access the site for a period of 48 hours from January 24 to January 26.  We were aware of the problem but could not do much about it until tech support helped us out.  If you want to read the long boring story, here it is.

For a few days prior to January 24, the websites were experiencing some strange problems but that was chalked up to issues with the new version of wordpress.  On the 24th, the websites went down, one by one and BLORGE.com ceased to function.

If any of you tried to view the website during that period you would have seen error messages such as “Blorge.com isn’t loading right now, nameserver failure.”

A majority of our problems were with our hosting service.  There was more than one problem, I believe there were three individual issues that needed to be addressed.  It was not easy for our hosting service to fix.  Fixing one problem led to another problem or broke something else.

Because of this, more than one support ticket was required, we had to put in three support tickets to our host before all the problems were fixed.

Why this happened in the first place, I’m not really sure but I think it might have something to do with squirrels building a nest in the server center.  Or, other variety of rodents.

The sites are now back up, as you can see by reading this.  We’re also in the process of taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again and if it does, we should have access to “quick response” support.

In the near future there will be a blog (on a separate server) so that you (the reader) is not in the dark about website failures or problems that prevent BLORGE.com from loading.

Thank you, please continue to read and excuse our mess while we get things back to normal.
