National Lampoon gets crazy for online acquisitions

By Leslie Poston

National Lampoon gets crazy for online acquisitions National Lampoon continues to acquire online properties. In a recent bid to expand its online presence, the comedy giant has acquired a number of web sites in recent months. National Lampoon is expanding its reach into online comedy and sports.

The most recent acquisition for the company is web site RivalFish. RivalFish is a content provider based around sports, sports rivalries, and college sports. RivalFish has been around since 2003, and was already part of National Lampoons online link network before the purchase.

National Lampoon had previously acquired web site CollegeHangover. CollegeHangover is a site offering college students ways to ruin their reputations and future career prospects one uploaded binge drinking photo or stupid stunt video at a time. Visitors to the site can then rank their favorites, giving you more of a chance to get notice by your future ex-boss.

National Lampoon has not announced an official online growth policy as yet. If the recent acquisitions can be any indicator, they may continue to acquire relevant properties to enhance their web reach. That’s my prediction, anyway.
