Slid in right by my AVAST anti-virus. This is the first infection that avast didn't catch Took me 6 hours to remove it - but apparently it hosed drivers as well because my USB-connected HD's are no longer seen by XP - and this AM the box was a brick. I never even heard of AVSoft – and never visited their site, but I got hit yesterday from an ad for the software at another site. Slid in right by my AVAST anti-virus. This is the first infection that avast didn’t catch

I got it on my brand new laptop last night while preparing to do some coursework. I'm afraid I have lost my faith in AVSoft. I'm sticking with spybot and AVG in future.
