I think SONY knew well before anyone.  I would say SONY knew, even when they called it a &quot;stalemate&quot; last year.  They made a deal with Toshiba to build cheaper Blu Ray drives and PS3&#039;s in early 2007.  Toshiba would do the builds and SONY saved more $, passing on some of the savings to the consumer via price cuts (on the PS3). 

The sales for movies on HD DVD were just so mediocre, that I would bet everyone involved with the formats knew that Toshiba would be the &quot;loser&quot; of this whole thing.  Warners decision was more than just an educated guess.  The December #&#039;s for drives, and movies sold go well beyond that decision. 

I&#039;m still shocked that some are calling for HD-DVD to stay put.  It&#039;s got to go.  It&#039;s time to move on.</description>
