Tickle Party: Microsoft’s new Zune arts video is “interesting” — as usual

By Danny Mendez

Tickle Party: MicrosoftMicrosft released another Zune arts video titled Tickle Party. As usual, the video has nothing to do with the Zune, which makes the odd commercials even more interesting.

Zune-Arts, the Microsoft-backed group behind the videos, have been doing this for about as long as the Zune’s been around. The artists pair with musicians, some famous and others not, and create "out-there" shorts as publicity for the Zune.

The latest ad, known as Tickle Party, features two weird, furry creatures as the main characters. If the video doesn’t make any logical sense to you, don’t worry. It’s not supposed to be logical — at least not in that sense of the word. Anyway, this is all about the video below, so enjoy.

Though many have criticized Microsoft’s offering for being so weak in comparison to the iPod, perhaps its fair to point out that Microsoft is trying to write its own success story with the Zune instead of simply copying the iPod. We all know what happens when corporations try to copy the iPod: the iPod always wins.

This blogger rocks an iPod Touch, a Macbook Pro, and an iMac (which replaces an older Vista HTPC), so I’m no Microsoft fanboy. I just find the criticism on Microsoft unfair — the iPod took years to get where its at. Let’s give Microsoft a couple more revisions before we start condemning the Zune as ultimately inferior to the iPod, please Apple fanboys?
