HTC’s Google phone has a name, meet the HTC Dream
By Ken Mitchell
High Tech Computer (HTC) has been hell bent on becoming the first to release a Google phone. That phone now has a name, the Dream.
HTC has been tinkering with Google’s mobile operating system Android, and was the first to admit to working on a phone based on Android. There are other players in the game now though.
Some info about the HTC prototype leaked out several months ago. According to those leaks and other reports, the HTC Dream will be about 5 inches long and 3 inches wide. There will be a qwerty keyboard underneath the display for easy typing, especially for web address and notes.
HTC representatives are remaining silent about the product, but sources say that it should be out on the market by the end of the year. There is no doubt pressure to get it out quick, as some of the other players would love to be the first in the Android starlight.
Android is the open source mobile operating system from Google, designed for ease of use, data portability, and internet services.
HTC is the maker of some of the top mobile devices on the market, though many of them are sold under different names. HTC allows mobile retailers to rebrand the devices under another name. Though HTC may officially call the device “Dream”, it is likely that service providers will rebrand the devices to their own name after working out deals with HTC.
Some of the more popular HTC devices now are the HTC Touch, HTC Tilt, and the HTC TyTn.
