Top 5 Woot tracker sites, say hello to your next impulse purchase

By Matt Jansen

image Woot.com takes impulse buying to a whole new level by offering dynamite deals one at a time, for one day. By coupling a limited selection and timeframe with great prices, Woot.com has created a high pressure zone where visitors are more likely to make a purchase. Frequently the site generates so much traffic that its servers are overloaded, so to keep in touch with the most recent deals you might want to try one of these Woot tracker sites.

Wootalyzer

Free software download that tracks Woot and a optionally several other deal sites. A (startling, though it’s easy to change) alarm goes off when deals meeting your criteria surface.

Feature list:

» Monitor Woot, Sellout.Woot, Shirt.Woot, Wine.Woot, Yugster, and others!
» Get alerts for new woot-off items within 5 seconds of when it is posted
» Listen to the woot-off theme from right inside the program! (Click options)
» Wootalyzer only takes up 4K of RAM while idling, less than 1/6 of others!
» Minimize Wootzlyzer to the tray, and it will pop up when a new item appears!
» An timer estimating the time until the next item is shown next to the percent remaining
» Automatically launch your browser directly to the buy page for certain items
» An extremely loud and annoying alarm will make sure that you know when a new item arrives
» Customize alarm sounds if the defaults are too annoying :)
» Compact mode allows for low screen real-estate usage
» Support for proxy settings

DODTracker

Aggregates good deals from many sites including Woot and Amazon.com. Tracks one-a-day sites but also branches out into computers & electronics, sports & apparel, music & entertainment and home & kitchen. The site updates roughly every two minutes.

Bags of Crap

The name references Woot’s periodic $1.00 sale of miscellaneous items in a bag, which could contain valuable items–or crap. This site aims to create more of a community by providing forums and chat features. It also sounds an alarm when Woot-offs are happening, which potentially could net you some good deals.

There’s also a section where users post what was inside their bags of crap.

Woot! Off Checker

A straightforward site that notifies you of the most recent Woot off, which are periodic additional sale items that Woot sells when the first item of the day sells out.

Track Woot

This site provides some additional ways to receive notifications including a FireFox plugin, text messaging, a Windows Vista gadget, and e-mail. Track Woot appears to focus mainly on regular Woots and Woot Offs.
