Hewlett-Packard just announced the successful prototype of a new computer memory it’s calling memristor, which is short for memory resistor. Among other advancements, it could usher in a generation of computers that require zero boot time.

Dark again are the days now, days that were once bright when Radiohead freely distributed its album “In Rainbows” to listeners for whatever donations fans saw fit. Though Radiohead made a great push against the normal system of artists using record labels to distribute music, apparently abandoning “the system” just isn’t plausible right now, because the band has gone back to standard distribution

Back in the early 90s, labs would draw blood to match with other blood samples in order to identify criminals, potential dads, and sometimes victims. Then we entered the day of DNA where a swab of the cheek, or a sample of any body fluid or tissue would be enough to ID criminals, unknown victims, potential heirs, and possible fathers. Both procedures required at least 3 months to 3 weeks depending on the procedure. With Antibodies testing, the answer can be known in as little as 2 hours.

Violence seems to follow the launch of games and consoles. People waiting in line for the PS3 when it launched were attacked and had their newly acquired consoles stolen and now real life violence occurred at locations where GTA IV was being sold at midnight on April 29.

Electricity has some advantages over other energy sources. It can be generated using a variety of sources like the wind and the sun, and to deliver it only requires a wire. Other sources like gasoline and propane require extraction, containers, storage space, and physical delivery. Realizing that and the trend toward gasoline price anxiety, Chevy is considering an all-electric version of the Volt.

Hewlett Packard faces a new security hazard as their Software Update Tool is found to have a fairly serious security hole. The double threat can lead to remote command execution or data leakage, both of which are huge issues for a company like Hewlett Packard.

The U.S. Military has new hi-tech gadgets to help them in the field. The new OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays use very little power and can be switched into a special “stealth mode” where only the screen can only be seen by night vision goggles.

With gas projected to reach $4.00 per gallon, the thought of modifying my Prius to get 100 miles per gallon is very exciting. But at an initial cost of $10,000 for 100 mpg for only 30 to 40 miles at a time? I’m not sure its worth it.
