Live two lives at once: Samsung brings Second Life to your mobile
Can’t stand being away from the virtual world of Second Life? Now you never have to leave your second life because Samsung’s bringing the game to your mobile phone. Well, you have to buy the phone first, then it’s "your mobile phone."
The Korea Times reports Samsung demonstrated the mobile application on phones displayed at the CTIA annual trade show in Las Vegas. Among the various fucntions of the Second Life app, users will be able to blog in both the real and virtual world without time gap, and the "Mixed Contract" feature allows users to contact Second-Life buddies through the Internet, voice (phone), and SMS.
Phones capable of running the application and other more advanced programs will hit US stores in the second half of the year.
It’s not obvious at first, but Samsung’s onto something bigger here. Think about it: Second Life users will be able to do their Second Life business anywhere. Imagine if the same idea was applied to WOWers and others (such as bloggers!) that spend way too much time at their computers. Suddenly nerds, geeks, etc. will fill the sidewalks with heads pointed down, wandering aimlessly amongst the First Life like zombies trapped in two realities!
Note: We know there’s mobile blogging software out there. We just don’t prefer it.
