Mossberg claims 3G iPhone 2 to be available within 60 days

The iPhone has been a roaring success, at least in North America, where Apple have sold millions since its launch last June. Now, we have more evidence that the second release, the iPhone 2.0, or the 3G iPhone, is set to arrive very soon.
At the end of March, CNN Money revealed Apple were targeting a June release date for the iPhone 2.0, and what’s more, were aiming to manufacture, and sell 11 million of the things over the course of the next year.
Now, according to Register, influential technology journalist Walt Mossberg, who writes for the Wall Street Journal, has gone on record to claim that the 3G iPhone will be here within the next 60 days, which makes an early June release more than likely.
Mossberg made the statement at a beet.tv conference in Washington DC over the weekend. What makes Mossberg’s assertion of the timing more believable than all of the other pundits expressing opinions over the timing of the release is that he has a track record of being given exclusive information, and early heads up on any new releases.
It seems that a June release for the iPhone 2 is now beyond question, a fact which will whet the appetite of all Apple fanboys out there who are desperate to get their hands on one of the new breed.
There is bound to be a certain level of hype surrounding the launch, as there was with the original, although I’m guessing the early adopters who got stung by buying straight away and then seeing the price get dropped substantially very quickly will wait a few months before switching.
What this release may do is increase sales around the world, where 3G is much more readily available than EDGE. Being neither a fan of Apple or the iPhone, I think I’ll stick to my stone age style mobile phone which at least didn’t cost me a fortune to buy, and now costs next to nothing every month.

and unavaliable on apple. com
thats just cuz they dont want people buying the old version when the new one is coming out

GAHHH i have been waiting for the new
iPhone rumors and ive been reading them
and havent really found what info ive
been looking for yeah ive heard about the
3G but what i need to know is does it
have AIM now can it send and recieve
pictures? Can it record,send, and recieve
video. Once i learn this about the
iPhone2 i will come to my decision
of whether to buy the LG VU or iPhone2
