$50 credit for HD-DVD players bought at Amazon before February 23

Early adopters are brave souls but those that opted for the HD-DVD format, lost, bit time. Thankfully, most retailers are offering several buy-back, trade-in or credit programs to help ease the pain should some of you wish to switch over to Blu-Ray. Most major retailers in the US and Canada offer such programs such as, Walmart, Future Shop, Best Buy, Circuit City and now online retailer giant, Amazon.com has joined the fray.
According to Gizmodo any customer that purchased an HD-DVD player will receive $50 credit good for any product sold by Amazon.com. The email from customer service reads as such,
“New technologies don’t always work out as planned. We at Amazon.com value our customer relationships more than anything and would like to support customers who purchased these players by offering a credit good for $50 off any products sold by Amazon.com…In addition, we’d like to share some of our top offers on Blu-ray discs, HDTVs and other high-def technology…”
As mentioned above, every other retailer offers similar programs, some have better programs if you purchased the retailer from them and Walmart has a full return policy if the player was purchased within a specific time frame.
My suggestion would be to use that $50 towards a PS3 but that’s just a suggestion. HD-DVD is dead, face facts, move on, be done with it; this is despite the fact that the players are still being sold by most retailers.
