Samsung cell phones powered with water by 2010
It’s a nice science project to create a potato powered clock or water powered calculator but Samsung thinks it will be producing water-powered cell phones by 2010 using fuel cell technology. Right now we spend a majority of our time trying to keep our phones away from water but not even this technological leap will save your cell phone from a dip in any water source.
Cnet reports the technology works like this, when the phone is turned on a reaction occurs between the metal and water which produces hydrogen gas which is channeled to a fuel cell which reacts with oxygen in the air which generates power.
Samsung claims this type of battery could last up to 10 hours and by Samsung’s usage calculations would have to be replaced every five days. Its next development would be a water based power system that doesn’t rely on the hydrogen cartridge.
While that’s all well and good, let’s hope that fuel cell systems are a little less volatile than its Lithium-ion counterparts.
If it works out, I wonder how long it will be before we have water powered cars? Even by 2010, I think that large-scale fuel cell systems will still be rather expensive.

I dont like the idea of water near my phone let alone water in my phone! But it will work. And as for the hydrogen stuff, it isn’t that it doesnt work the fact is we run on gas and to convert to hydrogen takes a bit more than a week. You need to replace all the gas stations with hydrogen stations. Not only that but there are limitations. And actually go look at CNET main page there is an article on the BMW that runs are Hydrogen it works
