Dark side of the web: how to make hydrogen sulfide gas for "easy" suicide

Like any living organism, the web is a mesh of cells primarily working with each other toward a goal. But, not every cell is healthy and not every cell agrees on how to contribute. On the web, a cell happens to be a bit of information that can be interpreted as good or bad–accurate or bogus. And, some cells on the web think they can help by sharing information on how to commit suicide “easily” using hydrogen sulfide gas.
Apparently Japan has one of the highest suicide rates in the world, “30,000 Japanese . . . kill themselves every year — the second-highest suicide rate in the industrialized world. Japan’s suicide rate per 100,000 people stood at 25.5 . . . compared with Russia’s 38.7, according to World Health Organization figures.” And using hydrogen sulfide to end it all is growing in popularity.
It certainly puts things in perspective to learn that so many people find everyday life too much to bear.
And it’s also a testament to how easy it is to find information on the web, regardless of its moral flavor.
Hydrogen sulfide gas is the latest trend of suicides, following a prior trend of using the carbon monoxide given off by burning charcoal, according to the Australian.
Ad hoc internet sites that function as suicide bulletin boards have “advertised” hydrogen sulphide as a quicker, less complicated method of ending it all. In one recent posting, “Mr Nameless” advises: “A new suicide method has been developed as an alternative to charcoal suicide.
“You don’t have to light a fire and it’s easier than charcoal. All you have to do is buy two different brands of liquid (which he names) that are easily available from the drug store.”
So what is Hydrogen sulfide? It’s the “chemical compound with the formula H2S. This colorless, toxic and flammable gas is responsible for the foul odour of rotten eggs and flatulence. It often results from the bacterial break down of organic matter in the absence of oxygen, such as in swamps and sewers (anaerobic digestion). It also occurs in volcanic gases, natural gas and some well waters,” according to Wikipedia.

Odd that this is surfacing as a “detergent” based concoction.
Standard chemistry way to make H2S is to combine ZnS + HCl; in a search of the US government’s database on household products, there are better “easy to get” items with which to make H2S…

so, if i was interested in killing myself in this fashion i only have to take a product with ZnS as an ingredient and mix it with a product that has HCI as an ingredient and it will produce H2S enough to do the trick?

Please somebody tell me if I first pour the toilet bowl cleaner (HCI) into a bucket and then add in the lime sulfur spray (ZnS)? Or, do I need to first pour in the lime sulfur spray and then add the hydrochloric acid? PLEASE TELL ME SO THAT I DON’T MISTAKENLY CAUSE A FIRE OR EXPLOSION AND ACCIDENTALLY HARM INNOCENT PEOPLE NEARBY!!!!

Remember that a 1% concentration results from adding 1.28 ounces of this particular bath salt per gallon of water. Do the math, and a 2lb bag will get you a gallon of water with a 25% concentration of sulfur bath salts.
A matching concentration/volume (about 25%/gallon) of the hydrochloric acid component can be achieved from about 5 24oz bottles of “The Works” brand toilet cleaner. (Available to purchase anywhere, but it’s very inexpensive here: http://www.hectorshardware.biz/shop/product.asp?dept_id=100103&sku=620920 )
ALSO: be aware that in high concentrations/volumes, this gas (H2S) is often flammable. This gas can disable your sense of smell upon even one inhalation, thus making it even more dangerous to yourself.. or, if I read between the lines of your question: YOUR NEIGHBORS.
There have been a few cases of people using this concoction to commit suicide with less than “polite” results. One such case involved a Japanese girl who managed to poison 90 other tennants in her building by using this method.
If you’re going to “stink bomb” yourself into oblivion… I suggest you take it outside (car, refrigerator box, etc), or devise a way to concentrate and administer a much smaller amount via garbage bags and a hose. Also remember that someone who wants to live is going to have to clean up your little mess, so a great deal of highly visible signage indicating the presence of H2S gas would be the polite thing to do….

Thankyou Highlander, I have been looking for a long time for a better way to finish things, and regardless of how stupid one may feel it is, I feel it makes less sense to make someone live when they don’t want to. Therefor you are a good person for having the mercy to help, most people would try to conceal such information because they feel they are doing the “right thing”. You have done the right thing however, because you have reduced my suffering more than any of the blinded life advocating ingrates of this society could.

Do not feel you have done anything wrong because it is everyone’s choice whether or not they live, it only makes sense considering we don’t get a choice as to whether or not we’re born. The only reason we fear death is because we fear what we do not know, our fear of death consumes us to the point where it can reduce quality of life. I have had many people close to me die a natural death, and I understand that we must accept death. All things have a counterpart, life cannot be with death and visa versa, so I advocate the accectance of death because I know it would have yeilded less negativity for me personally. I see death as the ultimate trascendence.

aluminum sulfide and water produce hydrogen sulfide.. Life has been bad for me for the last couple years.. I ran a recycling business.. between a spinal surgery and a guy embesseling $400k.. I lost almost everything over 800k over 2 years.. I was so miserable until the middle of last year.. I worked 12-16 hrs a day.. I just walked away from it all. i used to believe in karma, but the people that stole from me and hurt me never got there’s..
I’ve stayed home all year this year and spend it with my family.. I’ve worked on ideas that will make money in the future.. I had the money for these projects, but now just dont care..
Guess im saying, life is short.. I’m an athiest i’ll admit, but doesnt matter religeon.. You were put on this planet for no other reason than procreation.. Look at animals they have great instincts and lessons on living.. they procreate and survive.. If it comes to the thought of suicide, sometimes its easier to go primal.. what do your instincts say.. fight, run, disappear.. suicide should only be an option for people with real pain.. if your pain is not real, it is only temporary.. just disappearing is better.. starting over.. friends help, but i recomend ones you have known for years, ones that have shown u a weak moment..
people contemplating suicide are more emotional and show more feelings.. they are actually more human than most users.. they let things bother them.. they would feel guilty hurting others.. you guys can be my friend anyday.
to me, i was taken and used by so many.. I cannot say what i did, but i pushed my karma into working.. Its getting better now..

So how long does it take? What concentration? Wikipedia says 800ppm during 5 minutes is lethal for 50% of people. That sucks. How can I be sure I will sustain the smell for 5 minutes or even longer? I may just run out of my car. And that no one will come to “save” me?

hey thanks for that recipe, been looking all over for it. I will do the responsible thing and do it somewhere far away from anybody and everybody. I love people, but i’m tired and tired of their bs. Wierd thing is these days if you weigh out whats better, dealing with work and all the daily lies that go along with it, then having absolutely nothing to show for all you do, and have the work force treat you like you have one foot in the grave when you are 40, man taking a couple of breaths of a stink bomb and checking out sounds real attractive. im going to do more reasearch and get it ready by new years. thanks again!

Death by Chocolate seems best, but if not A Death by Box Jelly Fish seems so much more effective and less dangerous to others, just like the suicide in the movie seven pounds. Personally, I don’t advocate anyone committing suicide but if someone were to be irreproachably and completely intent on ending it all, this might be a more civilized option than creating a toxic gas cloud that might kill innocent neighbors and rescuers. Then again if your neighbors are ass&%$*@ then I guess it might make some sense. “Chironex Fleckeri” Box Jellyfish are some of the deadliest animal venoms known to exist just one animal has enough venom to kill 60 people. Although finding one in the wild and capturing it would be the least expensive option, keeping one alive in captivity for long would cost over 10000. US Dollars. If you make it a group thing then that might make it more cost effective. Just gather some like minded people in some type of bath or pool put up some warning signs so others can be safe and you can all Jellyfish Envenomate yourselves straight to the after life. I would suggest donating your organs to someone that is dying and wants to live. You see in the grand scheme of it all, Life is really Short as it is, and in order to Live it Fully, we must constantly try to find some happiness. It is there for you and I and everyone to find but you have to be willing to find it…or else it Life and Death becomes Primal, Survival of the fittest.

Carbon monoxide is still superior as its totally odorless, tasteless and cant be detected by human senses.
You dont have to do charcoal burning to make CO gas. There are 2 methods using only 2 ingredients for each and are easily obtainable from chemical laboratory supply shops.
1) dehydration of Formic acid by Sulfuric acid. Pour about 100ml of Formic acid into for every 200ml of Sulfuric acid. probably need about 300ml of formic just to sure.
do this in a 1 or 2 litre glass container and put this container in a bucket filled with cold water & ice cubes as the reaction gets very hot. do this in a confine space. lie down and within a few seconds you be unconscious and death within a few minutes.
2) heat about 500grams of zinc powder for every 500grams of calcium carbonate (limestone, white coral skeleton) power in a frying pan.
My preference is 1 as its just pouring one acid into the other. doesnt seem like your performing suicide. no slashing wrists, tying noose notes or jumping in front of trains.
I got enough supplies for the 2 methods and I feel more relaxed now than previous knowing I can exit this world peacefully at the time of my own choosing.

Please please please do not do this. You have no idea of the pain, grief and guilt you will cause your friends and family. I know from experience what you will leave behind you. Every day the people you care about will dealing with the everlasting pain. Suicide will relieve you of your pain, but cause incredible suffering to anyone who loves you. You don’t want to die, you want to stop hurting. Please ask someone for help. Try this book “How I stayed Alive When my Brain was trying to Kill me”. Don’t do it, I beg you.

How reliable is this method? One site said 2L containing the acid source, and 2L containing the sulfur source would be enough. I don’t want to try this and fail, and end up with a bunch of permanent damage and health conditions.
When you breath this in do your lungs burn? do you vomit? I haven’t been able to find out how long it actually takes to die and what symptoms you’d experience.

grieving mom, not everyone has any friends or family they are leaving behind. also, if those people really mattered or made an effort to care, the person might not be committing suicide in the first place. your grieving is really your problem. a person has every right to end their life if they are miserable.

Is there a chemical reaction that could be used to render the H2S into some other harmless substance so that it couldnt potentially hurt anyone else? Scrub it, break it down, etc.. I’m assuming not from what I’ve seen on TV where they go cave exploring and still have to come out even if they have respirators on. Just curious. Thank you.

after spending hours yesterday looking for the ingredients, i have found out some helpful information. None of the local gardening shops, home depot, lowes, or walmart carry lime sulfur spray. Wal-mart has The Works(R) toilet bowl cleaner. A possible substitute for the pesticide, could be lime sulfur pet dip, which is 97.8% lime sulfer, a much higher concentration than bonide is.
