Profy debuts sleek, powerful new social blogging platform
One of the biggest gripes of bloggers everywhere is that the web-based platforms they write on are either buggy, unintuitive, or just plain difficult to use. Profy, prominent entity on Web 2.0, is hoping to change all that and ease the tedious load of painful blogging by giving users a completely innovative and intuitive new platform for achieving blogging zen.
Even as I write this, I take occasional breaks to shake my fist at Wordpress. We have a very love-hate relationship, Wordpress and me. I can definitively say, after playing around with the Profy platform, I have definitively fallen out of love with Wordpress forever.
The Profy team went about designing the new social platform, which is currently in closed beta, with users, not developers in mind. As simple as a concept as that might seem, the fact of the matter is that in execution, very rarely are ideas put to paper (or in this case, the internet) well.
That is not the case with the Profy platform. Though it is in closed beta at the moment, you can get your hands on it at the Web 2.0 Expo at Moscone West in San Francisco until April 25th.
Profy CEO Ilya Korsun really is quite serious about doing everything possible to make Profy’s social blogging platform as user friendly and fun as possible; he said, “…we invite all bloggers to try out our platform, share their opinions with us, and tell us what functionality would really give them a better blogging experience. For our part, we will work hard to make the Profy platform the most blogger-friendly solution for all things blogging.”
Hype, hype, hype. That really isn’t our business at Blorge, so let’s get to the meat. I was able to get my hands on the beta invite, and some of the features that really “make” this platform work are as follows:
First off, the dashboard might be the most intuitive and streamlined interface I’ve ever seen for blogging. You have 4 boxes that display your posts, your comments, your feed items, and your messages.

Next, Profy will let you post to whatever existing blogs you may have over at Blogger or Live Journal. Can I just say, Profy…how about a shout out for all the oppressed folks over on Wordpress, hmm?
There’s a lot more that I won’t go into detail with, but all in all, the platform is sleek, simplistic and attractive. It really does take social blogging to a new level of simplicity and ease, but also offers all the functionality you’d expect from one of of those less fun, more complicated systems you use only because of the options.
If you don’t get the chance to try Profy hands on as part of the closed beta or at the expo, keep your eyes peeled for the first moment its open to the public, because if the Profy blogging platform isn’t Zen, it is about as close as you’ll get nowadays.

Triston, thanks a lot for such an awesome review of the Profy platform, it really made me feel that we did a good job building the platform!
And yes, Wordpress.com support is on the way, it is one of our priorities because people continue asking for that, we just started with Blogger and Livejournal and will add further platforms as well obviously.
By the way, I would not really call Profy a closed beta – we still have invites in place but the waiting process is normally under half an hour unless our servers experience too heavy load – that’s kind of a safety measure for us to make sure you won’t suffer downtime while new users arrive to Profy. By the way, you now have invitations for your friends that will actually be let in immediately when they receive them – so feel free to share your Profy experience with friends.
Again, thanks and I’d love to hear further feedback from you should you want to share some!
