The end user will still have to pay for Microsoft's failure. Sure Dell will continue to offer us XP, but at a price over the failure that is Vista

Mitch is absolutely right. Better yet, Windows 7 should be more focused and streamlined. The problem Vista had was that Microsoft set out to develop the "Greatest OS Ever Created" and once it became the laughing stock of the computing industry with how long it was taking, their pride forced them to rush and cut features, all adding to the disappointment and problems inevitable to completing the project. Add to this the plethora of confusing versions and price points of Vista, and one can understand the public's resistance to switching. Mac user's get a simple, single OS; media features are sold as a separate program suite. Linux excels with a "build to suit" approach and is a much more attractive as a complete hardware/software solution for a customer's particular needs. You've got to imagine that Windows 7 is Microsoft's last chance, one way or another, to release a blockbuster operating system.

Good bye to Vista. I stick to XP for 50 years or more. Because XP have solid core than Vista. Vista is slooooooooow! I did tried touch Vista on any laptop at Staples, Office Depot, etc. No way to buy Vista. Vista is full of junk! People told that. I got it. Windows Vista is also same as Windows ME!! What for???!!! Crash in blue or black screen again, again. Forget it, Vista. Good idea - we can no longer support to Vista right now. XP is winner war against Vista. XP have secret to unlock to speed up and more stable than Vista. Remember Halo 2 is only for Vista? It work on Windows XP!!! I am very glad to hear from people said that! Vista is lend to failure and lose. XP is lend to winner and successful toward in the future! I hope Windows 7 must be same as XP! Don't lie to us, Microsoft!!! If Microsoft(MS) lie, we will throw/trash newer Operating System away. People can be complaint on MS too!

Rather than ensuring Windows 7 arrives "on time and on schedule" as you say, I think it would probably be more beneficial to the customer if it arrived fully functioning and when it was ready, unlike vista which was clearly rushed out and is still getting straightened out.

"The customers have spoken - they want XP. Who is Dell and Lenovo to deny them? Both computer makers have pledged to make Vista available even after Microsoft’s XP deadline."
Er, what?
