Real life violence at GTA IV retail launch

By Jonathan Schlaffer

ht-gta4-080124-ms21 Violence seems to follow the launch of games and consoles.  People waiting in line for the PS3 when it launched were attacked and had their newly acquired consoles stolen and now real life violence occurred at locations where GTA IV was being sold at midnight on April 29.

A game known for its over the top violence has followed gamers into real life.  Those waiting in line to be the first to own the game found that their joy would be short lived.  According to The Telegraph, a hooded man stabbed one person several times which was in line outside of a Gamestation before taking off.

Another incident in Manchester took place where two men broke a teenager’s jaw and ran off with his copy of GTA IV.

There have yet to be any reports of violence or attacks relating to the launch of the game in the US but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit.  The game is rated M for the US which is supposed to mean that only those 18 years of age and older can buy it.  But honestly, kids that want the game will get it no matter what.

Parents will buy it for them and if that fails then older brothers/sisters will acquire it and no doubt share it with their younger siblings.  As far as I’m concerned, it’s not a big deal.

Any parent who purchases GTA for a child under the age of 18, should be sterilized and exterminated. It’s an adult game…not for kids. Want to subject your children to that kind of wake-up to the world. Drop them off in a ghetto somewhere.

I love the series but australia must get an 18+ game rating, as non of this game should be played by kids, the stuff they edited out was pointless based on what is left.
