T-Mobile’s 3G rollout isn’t voice only: 3G iPhone, T-Mobile’s ready

By Danny Mendez

the reception on 3G mode is same as 2G means I still have no reception in the basement without repeaterYou may have heard T-Mobile just unleashed their 3G network. The change is only meant to apply to voice and not data, meaning data connections are still 2G. But if that’s the case, why are users on the net reporting 3G data connections in some areas of the country?

It turns out some Howard Forums members are taking advantage of the not just the 3G voice network but a new 3G data network as well. T-Mobile is likely considering the rollout “voice only” since 3G data connections are not available everywhere, but that’s not stopping happy T-Mobile subscribers from shouting out.

I am making breakfast at home
now just do a quick test for slingplayer
BOOM!!! 300+kbps!!!
got 3G at home!!

But it seems reception isn’t being affected — at least not very much.

Oh well, at least something’s improving on the only American network that’s needed an upgrade since 2001. T-Mobile subscribers often relate to Canadians, who also suffer from old wireless technology syndrome.

In related news, word on the street is the 3G iPhone’s coming out soon, and this happen’s coincide very nicely with the Apple mobile’s rumored release date.
