Reznor, Nine Inch Nails debut new song free to Facebook users

Reznor, Nine Inch Nails debut new song free to Facebook usersIf you are a user of Facebook and a fan of Nine Inch Nails, you will be happy to know that Reznor and the band are distributing a new single free of charge to users of Facebook. That should make for a nice little weekend gift, direct from the visionary of alternative music distribution methods himself.

According to TorrentFreak, Nine Inch Nails has made its new single “Echoplex” available to any and all users on Facebook who care to take advantage of the free download. If you aren’t a user of Facebook, there are a couple different locations that are distributing the single in addition to the popular social networking site, which have been listed here.

Nine Inch Nails, led by front man Trent Reznor, has recently stepped forward as leaders in a movement towards discovering and implementing alternative models of music distribution. Reznor believes that the common practice of selling out to record labels needs to be combated and that musicians should take the first steps towards getting their music out there without the aid of record labels.

The band distributed its last album “Ghosts I-IV” both online and in more expensive combo packages. The idea was to allow customers who didn’t care for hard copies to get it for less online, and for customers who wanted more to be able to pay accordingly; the band provided many price points so customers had the right to choose…not greedy record labels.

Undoubtedly this new initiative is to keep positive vibes flowing in NIN’s direction. At least for me, any band willing to buck the system and move towards reaching a better spot for themselves and consumers deserves all the praise they garner.
