T-Mobile launches stupid Mother’s Day special

By Danny Mendez

T-Mobile launches stupid Mother's Day specialT-Mobile is launching a really interesting but rather stupid Mother’s Day special that’ll waive any activation fees for new lines, but you’ll need to be super lucky to participate.

Why do only the lucky make the cut? You have to catch a special ad featured only on the MSN homepage, says TmoNews. That’s too bad: no one’s ever going to find it since no one uses MSN.com anymore!

We suspect the ad is the product of inefficient internal politics and/or management since no effective marketing team would ever choose a site that’s been dead since 1999 to push a promotion.

The deal is unavailable at brick and mortar retail stores, and FlexPay month-to-month plans don’t count. So you’ll have to sign your soul away for a year or two in order to collect on the deal.

T-Mobile should’ve expanded the promotion to more popular sites like Yahoo, Myspace, Facebook, and the Google search results page. Mix in a press release announcing the deal, and we’re sure legions of the deal-addicted would’ve set out to find the ads, giving the company several new subscribers over the two day viral promotion. But the company didn’t do that, so the promotion will die with the few who find the ad.
