Sony PS3 to use YouTube API to upload video to YouTube
YouTube recently opened up its API to third party developers and web sites for the purpose of being more interactive and increasing the usefulness of its site as a source for video. Sony is jumping on the chance to add features to the PlayStation 3 by making it compatible with the YouTube API for video uploads.
Other devices have already jumped on the open API concept and added direct-to-YouTube functionality, like cameras, camcorders and cell phones. The PlayStation 3 is the first video game console to take advantage of this interactive upload capability.
What would a gamer want to upload to YouTube? Video captures of actual in-game events and sequences. Now PlayStation 3 lovers can immortalize their best gaming moments on YouTube (or in the case of MMO games like World of Warcraft and other multi-player games, the embarrassing video capture sequences of other players getting PWNED).
The possibilities are endless for uploading whole channels dedicated to games, gamers, game moments and game cheats. This new feature will work with both future titles and existing titles. The first game to integrate this functionality is the well-loved Japanese game Mainishi Issho.
