Want your WiFi? A group of allergy sufferers in Santa Fe says you can’t have it, their tin foil hats aren’t strong enough to combat the death rays.

A group of people in Santa Fe, New Mexico have banded together to take away your WiFi in area public buildings. The Santa Fe / Taos area already has a reputation for being somewhat artistic (read: flaky), and is a haven for alternative health practices, artists and spirituality. This call for a ban is what happens when that alternative approach goes a little far.
This group has decided that WiFi causes a myriad of health issues, including allergic symptoms and illnesses. They are taking an approach much like that of people who believe in sick buildings, getting cancer from electrical wires or that cell phones are putting unhealthy “waves” into your brain.
Believe or not, these are not the first tin-foil hat wearers to try and get WiFi signals banned. A handful of teachers have sued schools to keep useful WiFi signals out of the classrooms, ensuring they stay in an outdated learning environment and don’t have to learn any of that newfangled technology, and other groups have sued to keep WiFi signals away from them as well.
What makes the Santa Fe group interesting is the approach they are taking. Claiming that the “issues” that they believe are caused by WiFi signals violates their rights as wackjobs citizens under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The group has actually gotten a city attorney to look into their claims, basing them on phantom “chest pains” and other issues.
Never mind the fact that the city is already covered in Wifi service, or that many people depend on reliable WiFi for their work – they want their little slice of heaven to look more like 1950 Pleasantville again, no matter the cost serving this small chunk of people has to the rest of their community they claim to care about so much.

Why all the anger? Do you actually know anyone who suffers? I love wifi. Laptop freedom was an amazing concept to me. Then I shut the wifi off at night and my 5 year old son’s screaming headaches disappeared. When he’s too close to a transmitter, he becomes unbelievably distracted and distraught. He’s been sleeping for months since we shut it off. And no, he’s not particularly artistic and neither am I. I wouldn’t wish the kind of discomfort and pain he went through on anyone and am so grateful to my friend (one of those crazy santa fe people – a scientist) who told us to try shutting it at night. If it hits the public schools, us middle income people are going to have to consider a private alternative. That doesn’t seem like fair access to me. And what about freedom of information. Other parents and kids suffering who don’t have well-informed friends will have to deal with bad grades, pain and little sleep because we’ve relegated this issue to crazies and won’t do any research into the problem or into alternatives to wifi. Having wifi service isn’t the same as having close proximity to transmitters. And I’m sure there is a lot more to this issue – but I’m not the scientist and still have lots of research to do.

have you heard about wireless electricity, its still a ways away, but intel recently had a breakthrough, just imagine these people when this comes out, all the benefits that we could have, but NO, some people just cant handle it. really. not to say that their claims aint true, i cant prove or disprove, but the benefits we could have, or could not have. i dont know, but this sounds absurd to me. sorry for those who suffer (really) the world is full of prolbems, and we’ll never get all the answers, fighting cant solve it all.

the problem is that under the most recent former regime . allll frequencies were opened up for research and muiltimillions of dollars in govt funding made available to anyone who coul use this to find a way to make super human soldiers and help them deal wtih ptsd.. that beign said and sounds god. they put no restrictions on it and so any tom dick and harry coul test on their neighbors.. and they are.. under the patriot act they consider it legal. never mind it’s a twisted sick communistic hitler thing to do . and therapist are turning int their patietns to get millions fo dollars.. for brain testing in teh hopes of makgin them ” better” but its’ realyl destroying them and makign zombies and takign away theri human rights .. and it’s inhumane. they took my brain processor and locked it up so that I cant configure things on my own or think deep thoughts. she connected me some how to a bunch of otehr peoel and tried to get us all to wenmesh. a nd in teh process our brains were monitored nad analyzed on copmputers for their wiring and then suign bio feedback type technology from a distance via these frequencies.. “reqwire” the brains to fire and control human muscles and make them move like remote controleld beings.. in Europs it’s tons wors.e. saw one guy suddenly sit ont eh groudn and move aruodn as if he was being reomtely controleld with a wii or joysticks to move liek an ape.. then seuddenly as if nothign happened he got up adn walked further. he friedn was astounded adn had not a word to say.. me neither.. not cool
