Sims 2: Give your home a virtual makeover with trendy IKEA furniture

the-sims-2-logo.jpgThe Sims have needed an upgrade to their living environment for some time. I used to play the Sims 2 on my MacBook Pro; I found the majority of the home decorating furniture to be underwhelming.

Your Sims home decoration options are about to get trendy thanks to a virtual makeover plug in created the Swedish home furniture giant, IKEA. No your Sims won’t have to build it themselves. What included in the package? Everything that your Sims need to furnish their home. You’ll find beds, chairs, sodas, lighting, wall art, along with a variety of other trendy gadgets to furnish your home.

The Ikea UK marketing manager, Anna Crona, said that the “Sims tie-up fitted neatly with the brand’s current marketing line, that home is the most important place in the world.”

“For Ikea, The Sims 2 represents a media channel. This is a great channel for us to reach young and young at heart,” Crona said.

Bringing business advertising into the Sims virtual world is nothing new last year H&M , the extremely popular European retailer had a large number of their designs featured in The Sims 2. During its first year sales from the H&M expansion pack reached one milion.

Electronic Arts, had also struck a deal with Ford which enabled Sims character to own a Focus or Mustang car. Over 2.7 million of the Ford add-on have been sold.

The Sims is a game that simulates real life in a virtual environment. The game designer is Will Wright. The game is published by Maxis and distributed by Electronic Arts. The Sims was originally released on February 4, 2000. In a little over a month, it had sold over 6.3 million copies worldwide making it the best-selling PC game in history.

The Sims has won numerous awards including Gamespot’s Game of the Year Award for 2000. The Sims 2, is the sequel to the Sims over 13 million games have been sold. In 2004 it was the best selling PC game of the year.

The Ikea Home Stuff Pack will be released in late June for about $20.
