PayPal’s glitch continues to create lost business

By Susan Wilson

PayPal's glitch continues to create lost business Anyone who has ever purchased anything from eBay or an ebookstore knows that PayPal is a necessity. Rather than digging through your wallet for your credit card every time you make an online purchase, you can simply use PayPal from your computer, handheld or phone.  In this age of online shopping where web surfing means crossing country borders with the Enter button, PayPal’s ongoing glitch is a major problem.

PayPal has a glitch that prevents payment from a user in one country to a person in a different country.  Thousands of transactions can’t be completed because the drop down menu that allows a user to change the country for the user or other party doesn’t work.  This should be a simple fix.

According to eBay, PayPal’s parent company, 90% of eBay offerings accept PayPal.  Since many of the auctions on eBay involve multiple country transactions, this glitch must be causing eBay a considerable loss in fees and merchants considerable loses in sales.

This is a problem not only for merchants who are losing business, but for people who get paid through PayPal from out of country sources.  Many businesses employ contractors from around the world and PayPal has simplified payment issues for all concerned - until now.

What makes it worse is that PayPal has known about this problem since May 16th.  PayPal even acknowledged the problem on May 22nd but has yet to fix it.

Users of the PayPal system have been complaining for days.  Still the problem remains. eBay should surely want this problem corrected immediately, so why hasn’t it been fixed?

PayPal and eBay may both lose business because of this continuing problem.

Few are willing to continue working with unresponsive companies that cost them money.
