How to give your Eee PC a touch screen the easy way

By Danny Mendez

How to give your Eee PC a touch screen the easy wayGot an Eee PC? Got touch screen? Not yet you don’t — at least, not officially. A crafty aftermarket company hit up the drawing board and sweatshops, so now you can order an Asus Eee PC touch screen directly from China. After spending a month in various UPS stations around the world, it should take less than half an hour to install, and there’s no soldering required!

How great would an Asus Eee PC touch screen be? We wouldn’t know because we haven’t tested it yet, so we can’t vouch for the product. But if you’re brave enough to take your Eee PC apart, this touch screen kit for the Asus notebook might be of interest to you.

We haven’t found anybody that sells these in the states, so you might have to order it straight from China unless you find an American reseller. The kit goes for about $338 plus shipping, though, we must warn you: buying from foreign sites isn’t the safest way to shop.

The store that sells it also has the directions on the install process, but jkkmobile added English to all the pictures to make it easier for non-Chinese speaking folk. The process is very basic and simply consists of nine steps that will help users remove the screen frame, connect/disconnect stuff, and finally re-close the screen frame.
