Blackberry Bold 9000 gets a page on ATT site, doesn’t compete with iPhone
The BlackBerry Bold, also known by the epic model number: 9000, just got its own page on the ATT Wireless site.
The Blackberry Bold page confirms the official specs, though it isn’t presenting anything we haven’t already heard.
"- GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA
- Integrated Wi-Fi and GPS
- Half-VGA (480×320 resolution) color LCD screen
- Up to 5 hours GSM talk time, up to 13 days standby
- Side-loading memory slot
- 1GB of on-board memory storage
- 624 MHz processor and 128 MB flash memory
- Bluetooth® 2.0 capability with support for hands-free headsets, stereo headsets, car kits, and other Bluetooth peripherals"
We first heard about the "top-secret" Blackberry 9000 late last year, and at the time we were under the impression "the 9000 series … will ditch the traditional QWERTY for an on screen keyboard." Though we’re not sorely disappointed (some of us at Blorge prefer a physical keyboard), it won’t be the strong Sidekick/iPhone/Ocean competitor we were hoping for. While the software and OS have really changed, the overall form factor and target audience is typical RIM behavior.
And we know have a great educated guess at to what you’re thinking: "this thing doesn’t stand a chance against the iPhone 3G," and instead of presenting a counter-argument, we’ll just link to this article.
