Dell gives number for phone sex line during tech support chat
By Jonathan Schlaffer
Dell’s service is a mixed bag but certainly no one would expect to be given a phone sex line number instead of the correct Dell support number. That’s exactly what happened to one unlucky user with his boss on the line.
“Steve” was trying to check the warranty status of several Dell systems and sought assistance from Dell’s online chat support. As it turned out, both the systems were out of warranty and required new motherboards.
When the Dell tech gave him the phone number to call, he gave him the number to a phone sex line. By accident? Likely but in all honesty it would be much funnier if the Dell tech actually had the phone number lying around and gave it accidentally .
He told “Steve” that he transposed two of the numbers and it was as simple as that. If so, an innocent mistake. If not, hilarious. A screenshot of the alleged chat can be found at HardOCP.
“Steve’s” boss just happened to be on the line when the call went through twice to the phone sex line. I’m guessing he was not amused.
By the end of the chat, the Dell tech managed to find the correct number and gave it to “Steve.” It’s amazing what transposing a few numbers can do and in this case the result was funny. “Steve” should tell his boss to relax a little.
Since the systems were out of warranty maybe the phone sex would have been the better option to go with. Am I the only one thinking that? This is about the level of service I would expect from Dell and is the very reason I don’t bother with support.

That problem is worse than you know! I recall though I don’t have the notes in front of me that I also reached a phone-sex line using a warranty support number provided me by Dell trying to renew service contract approximately April 2008. The number wasn’t just handed to me absent-mindedly read off a desktop napkin by a bored employee, it appeared on some automatically churned-out correspondence I received. Looking at the incredibly demoralized quality of support and accountability at Dell generally I suspect this was a deliberate childish employee sabotage.

Dell has completely insulated themselves from public contact….You cannot speak to anyone in their United States corporate headquarters. No matter what number you call for Dell, it gets filtered right back to some arrogant filthy raghead in india, who is completely unwilling to help in any way shape, or form.

My brother called dell tech support, and talked to a man with an indian accent.
He tried helping my brother, but after my brother gave the man his computer acsess number…..the man suddenly told my brother “that he can not help”. After fighting with an indian man that he could hardly understand, for about five minutes……..the indian tech support man gave my brother a phone number for alternate help.
When my brother called…….PHONE SEX LINE!!!
