The Dare by LG is Verizon’s newest answer to the Apple iPhone threat. It has a full touch interface, an impressive 3.2 megapixel camera, a fast web browser using the 3G Verizon EV-DO Rev Network, and it comes with VZ Navigator for all your turn-by-turn direction needs. Plus, it has a customizable homepage, it’s capable of multitasking between applications, and it will be sold at $199 at Verizon stores starting next week.

So far, the secret behind the Chevy Volt’s first 40 electric-only miles has originated from a line of lithium-ion batteries that fit snugly under the floor down the center of the vehicle. But, a new kind of battery and ultracapacitor combination technology designed by Eestor Inc. may be poised to make lithium-ion batteries, and the Chevy Volt, obsolete.

If you’re what some might call a cell phone junkie, you should already know that HTC is releasing a top-end flagship device known as the Touch Pro in the very near future to the U.S. market. The handset is starting to land in the…erm…hands of reviewers, and they like what they see.

Of the many hybrid choices out there, this may be one of the strangest. This Hungarian car runs off solar, gas, electric and pedal power if necessary, and is expected to be out by 2012. This car combines renewable energy with fitness training.

Humans regularly seek larger sizes and more speed — maybe it’s a throwback to some sort of evolutionary advantage or an expression of dominance. Either way, speed is the primary driver behind Blackswift, a hypersonic jet project the pentagon is working on. But, doubts about being able to meet the Pentagon’s specifications are putting the project’s funding in jeopardy.

Remember cell phones were huge? I don’t, but it’s 2008 and starting on July 1st, it’ll be illegal to talk on a cell phone and drive in the great, golden state of California unless you’re wearing a wireless headset. The restrictions are worse for minors. Live in another state? It still matters.

It’s a project initiated by the European Commission and its goal is to improve productivity though the appropriate application of learning in the workplace. Is it the end of meetings around the water cooler?

T-Mobile, cellular provider ranked number one in customer care, has been developing a home network solution for mobile customers for some time. Now, T-Mobile will provide VoIP service to customers for unlimited home calling at just $10 a month.

Last year, the web started buzzin’ that Google would enter the mobile phone arena, but no one knew what that meant. Google is a different kind of company, which means consumers, speculators, and investors were expecting something, well, different. Many assumed it would be a “gPhone”, an evolved hardware device featuring a Google OS and applications, but the story behind Android is hardly about a device or an OS. Instead, you’ll find the typical Google train of thought at work: if it sucks for consumers, make it better for them and make some money in the process.

Doomsday predictions have a tendency of becoming more frequent when times are tough, and many people are struggling to make ends meet right now. Prices for agricultural goods are rising and natural disasters are becoming more common primarily because of shifts in the climate. But why are so many choosing 2012 as the next year for cataclysm to strike, and what’s causing the climate changes?

Sometimes life imitates Art and sometimes it imitates Science Fiction. This is one of those later times. Anyone familiar with Battle Star Galactica knows that the Cylons are self replicating robots. Now an open source group has created a robot machine that recreates itself and anything else for which you can find blue prints.
