Facebook goes Windows Mobile
By TJ Kirchner
Windows Mobile users rejoice! A new 3rd party application called FriendMobilizer allows Windows Mobile users to keep in touch with their Facebook accounts. Now they can enjoy the same features that they’ve been envying of Blackberry owners.
Users can now check their Facebook status, approve friend requests, view group/event invites, check their wall and inbox, and send their friends messages, pokes, and wall posts. Plus, they’ll enjoy getting notifications sent directly to their home screen.
According to ReadWriteWeb, the application will also include the same functionality as Snap2Face. This precursor Facebook application for Windows Mobile gave users the ability to upload photos and view them from Facebook.
Obtaining the application is easy. Simply go to the faceofmobile.com website to register your phone with their service and download the application. You’ll be asked to fill in your phone number, name and age, email address, and a captcha.
Next, you can download the program directly from your phone’s browser or use ActiveSync and transfer it from your computer to your phone.
Perhaps Facebook is looking for a better way to compete with MySpace Mobile. This service allows free SMS messages to be sent whenever the user receives a new message, comment, or friend request from MySpace. Plus, there are special applications developed for the Helio and Chumby. The Sidekick also gives users the ability to upload pictures from their phone.
According to VentureBeat, the MySpace Mobile website had 1.4 billion visits in April this year. However, the Facebook application for the RIM Blackberry received 212,238 daily active users as of early May. Plus, there’s also the iPhone application to consider as well. Although, most iPhone users maybe more inclined to check out facebook on their browsers rather than through an app., especially now with the 3G network providing lightening fast surfing speeds.

Yea, I know Blackberrys have had this feature for a long time. That’s why I said “they can enjoy the same features that they’ve been envying of Blackberry owners.” But not all Windows Mobile phones are Blackberries.
