Spam King brings home stress from "work", kills wife and kids
Stress at work is pretty normal but killing yourself takes dealing with it to a whole new level. But, taking your wife and kid out before eating a bullet yourself make it downright sick. A spammer going by the name of Spam King did just that after being convicted of spamming. Apparently the underbelly of advertising isn’t as glamorous as it seems.
The bodies of “Spam King” Edward “Eddie” Davidson, his wife, and 3-year-old daughter were found in an SUV parked in a farmhouse driveway in a rural part of Bennett, about 25 miles east of Denver. Authorities said Davidson was the apparent gunman, according to MSNBC.
The Spam King had escaped from a minimum security prison a couple of days earlier and the police were in pursuit. He owed the IRS over $700,000, ordered to pay up after pleading guilty to “falsifying header information to send spam e-mail, tax evasion and criminal forfeiture.”
Besides his dead wife and 7-8 month old child, the Spam King also injured a teenage girl in the neck, but she escaped and made it to a neighbor’s house still speaking coherently.
The Spam King specialized in promoting items like watches and perfumes and his bank account deposits totaled more than $3.5 million in 2003-2006. Most of that income came from a Houston company pushing a penny stock as an “excellent investment”.
He also had cash hidden in his girlfriend’s bank account and transformed into the form of gold, platinum and other precious materials. The Spam King apparently had a diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which may have contributed to his irrational behavior.
Spam is a sensitive topic for lots of people who are sick of seeing their inboxes full of messages they don’t care about. Perhaps the Spam King felt some of that pressure boxing him in when the authorities finally caught up to him. And maybe his wife was trying to convince him to turn himself in (though that’s a big question mark because ostensibly she helped him escape in the first place)?
