HTC Touch Diamond, Pro confirmed on Sprint, Verizon networks Finally, a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel for those who have been waiting for the HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro to debut in the U.S! For customers on the Sprint and Verizon networks, you will soon be able to enjoy all the Touch Flo 3D goodness your hearts desire.

Engadget Mobile reports that both HTC handsets will be available on the nation’s two leading CDMA networks, Verizon and Sprint. Though no release dates are confirmed as of yet, there are a few minor details that have leaked out.

For ole Big Red, HTC’s Touch Diamond will retain its name, while the Touch Pro will go by its one-time street name Raphael, back from the days when fuzzy sneak peeks were all we hand. Sprint’s version of the Touch Diamond has been christened the Victor, and the Touch Pro will go by the very sexy name Herman. Yep, you read right. Herman.

Engadget Mobile believes that Sprint will debut the Victor September second, while our good buddy Herman won’t show up until a month later. No clues have been dropped as to Verizon’s release dates for both HTC handsets, but signs are pointing to release dates sometime after Sprint’s due to an exclusivity agreement.

I have to say, I am very curious to see how the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro (err, the Victor and Herman) perform in sales for Sprint. The Samsung Instinct is all the rage right now, but Victor and Herman are stout competition. In fact, I’d quickly take either of those handsets over the Instinct.

To keep its user numbers high, Samsung might very well need to lower the already-low price of the Instinct, or at least maintain the $199 price point, as Victor and Herman will probably be of the slightly spendier variety.

Um… Sprint sells the Instinct for $129, not $199.

And how do you know you would take one of these new phone over the Instinct when you haven’t even seen them yet? Nice hyperbole.

  2. Triston McIntyre:

Last I read, the Instinct is only available for $129 through Best Buy. At Sprint retailers, it is $199. I would take either of the two HTCs due to them having Windows Mobile 6.1 pro, TouchFlo 3D, etc. Additionally the Touch Pro has a full qwerty keyboard, which for professional use is essential

Wow, way to rip off other peoples articles Triston McIntyre! You’re a disgrace!

You may have seen the $199 at 3rd party retailers, but not corporate owned stores. It’s only $129 there. And at Best Buy. And online at Sprint’s website.

You didn’t qualify your handset needs in your article. If you need Windows 6.1 and the apps that run under it, and have a need for the functionality of a pda, then of course you would choose something other than the Instinct. The Instinct is a media phone, not a pda.

If you’re going to flippantly dismiss something, at least state some valid reasons why.
