Adsense for Feeds launches
They’ve been testing it for the past two months, and now Google has officially turned on Adsense for feeds. Previously the ads you saw in feeds were from FeedBurner, Feedburner recently moved their service over to Google making it possible for anyone who’s an Adsense advertiser to get their feeds into the Feedburner network.
Feedburner recently stopped accepting applications for new advertisers in it’s network stating, “No new applications for FAN publishers are being accepted and we expect the broad variety of options provided through Adsense (including the new AdSense for Feeds product, powered with FeedBurner feeds) will give publishers valuable revenue-earning potential.”
Adsense for Feeds has been in beta for a little while, with the Google Operating System Blog noticing this week taht the service was now available to everyone. If users actually click on the ads, then the Adsense/FeedBurner combination could be a great one for Internet publishers, and those looking to advertise using Google Adsense. The new Adsense for feeds lets you choose between a 468×60 ad and a 300×250 ad. According to Google the 300×250 will show up only when someone with a large display is viewing a feed, or when there’s a good amount of content.
Advertisers who choose to use Adsense for Feeds can customize the details of the ads to best fit their business. You can choose whether the ads are displayed at the top or the bottom of your posts, how often your readers will see ads, the ad color, and if you want to get image ads in addition to the text variety.
I go through an amazing amount of feeds everyday, and I have to say I don’t think I’ve clicked on a single ad in all that time. Feeds to me are meant to be a time saver, and ads don’t ever draw my attention, especially not to a point that I would click on one.
Do you think Adsense for Feeds is going to be successful? Are any of you planning to Adsense to your feeds?
