T-Mobile user glee continues, Samsung T919 touch revealed

By Triston McIntyre

T-Mobile user glee continues, Samsung T919 touch revealedFor those that have stuck with T-Mobile through thick and thin since the company’s inception, this is definitely the year those customers will be granted their glorious rewards. Though it was some time coming, T-Mobile will finally be receiving its first legitimate touchscreen-only phone, the Samsung T919, and for not being “smart,” this thing makes up for it in raw, unadulterated sex appeal.

For the longest time, T-Mobile customers really didn’t have a single handset worth bragging about to customers of other carriers. HTC handsets like the Dash and the Wing could probably take top seats as far as innovation is concerned, and that really isn’t saying much.

In the last few weeks, however, it is like the customers of T-Mobile have been led out of the wilderness and into the land flowing with milk and honey. News of T-Mobile’s forthcoming 3G rollout surfaced, along with video and rumored prices and presale dates for the much-anticipated HTC Dream toting Google’s Android mobile operating system. Even more cities were named to the soon-to-be-3G list, and the fun doesn’t end there.

Following on the heels of all that joyous news, there is now very good information pointing to the release of a true touchscreen handset with modern features coming from TMoNews and The Boy Genius Report. The Samsung T919, a touchscreen handset available currently across the pond, is just plain sexy.

The T919 boasts two cameras, supposedly both 5 megapixels, and one faces front while the other is mounted in the back with an LED flash. It has voice-activated GPS, possible WiFi, streaming video, video ringtones, email, and oh…that little thing called 3G connectivity. It is important to note that the T919 isn’t what you’d call a “smart” phone. However, with features like this, even smart phone users might be tempted to sell out for the touch screen in all its gloriousness.

This puts me in a bit of a pickle, I must say. As you should know by now, existing T-Mobile customers will get first dibs on the HTC Dream, which comes equipped with a full-size qwerty slide-out keyboard and Google’s Android, sometime in September. Now there is a second phone that has completely different features to choose from. How’s a guy to decide? I’ll have to have both.
